March Month End

Hello Elders,

We are coming down to the wire for March with only 3 days left to get your hometeaching done and double your temple attendance. So far we have had only 4 votes on the hometeaching entry section below. Hopefully everyone is waiting until Monday to vote or call in your results to Bryan Melick: 407-361-3018.

Since this is also the 5th Sunday of the month we get to hear from the Bishop during 3rd hour. This will be a great lesson and opportunity to learn from our great Bishop.

The spiritual thought for this week comes from Virginia H. Pearce, President Hinckley's daughter:
"Two years later as he faced a diagnosis of cancer, he repeated the pattern. He did what all of us would do—he mourned the loss of good health and felt the fear of a disease that had taken his mother, his brother, and two of his sisters. Knowing that his life was in the hands of the Lord and feeling the power of the prayers of millions of you, he said that he felt compelled to do his part. And with the wonderful help of medical friends, he did just that—with courage and good humor. The result was a miraculous two-year extension of his life, when he could get up each morning, put on his shoes, and go to work."

We look forward to seeing you all on Sunday and appreciate all you do to make our quorum great!

Spring Is Here

Hello Elders,

Today is the official start of Spring and a great time to be in Florida. We have some exciting news taking place this Saturday at 1:00. Robyn Alesich will be baptized at the church and all are invited to attend! We are so excited to have both Chris and Robyn as the newest members of our ward and should have more pictures of them to post later this week.

Our lesson this week will be taught by the one and only, Chad Carnell. This will be his first lesson as our quorum instructor and we are sure it'll be great. The lesson, Service by Elder Steven E. Snow, can be viewed at this link: http://lds.org/ldsorg/v/index.jsp?vgnextoid=2354fccf2b7db010VgnVCM1000004d82620aRCRD&locale=0&sourceId=00b72bce258f5110VgnVCM100000176f620a____&hideNav=1

As a take off from last week's meeting, we would like to hold a short council at the start of quorum to discuss how we can be more personally committed to the gospel. Please prayerfully consider this issue and be prepared to discuss.

The spiritual thought this week comes from the lesson:
"If we fail to serve, we fail to receive the fullness of the privileges and blessings of the restored gospel. In the name of Jesus Christ, amen." Elder Steven E. Snow

We love you all and look forward to seeing you on Sunday.

Congratulations Chris!

Hello Elders,

Today was a big day for Chris Alesich and his family. Chris has been taking the missionary discussions for several weeks and was baptized this morning by Ken Danley. Ken introduced the gospel to Chris and played a major part in his conversion. Chris is an awesome guy and now a great member of our quorum. We welcome him and are excited to see him grow in the gospel. Congratulations Chris!

Sunday’s lesson will be out of the Joseph Smith manual and taught by our superb teacher, Brother Prather. Please find the time to read the lesson before our meeting and here is the link:

Also, we have some great news about hometeaching. Tired of those month end phone calls from one of us trying to see how many families you have visited? Well, now you can enter your results on this blog. If you scroll down below the calendar on this page you'll find a list of all the families our quourm is responsible for. To report your visits, simply click on each of your families and then click on the vote button at the bottom of the list. How great is that! We hope everyone will utilize this tool and we appreciate all of your hometeaching efforts.

The spiritual thought for this week comes from the lesson material:
“Search your hearts, and see if you are like God. I have searched mine, and feel to repent of all my sins.” - Joseph Smith

Thanks for all your support and help in keeping our quorum great. We love you all and look forward to seeing you on Sunday.

Service Saturday

Hello Elders,

We just finished a great morning of spring clean-up service projects. We got a lot done, nobody was injured or burned, and finished in record time of about 2 hours. Our work list included the following:

  • Justeson's - clearing, mowing and weed wacking
  • Clarke's - edging, mowing, raking
  • Huhn's - raking leaves
  • Whitney's - cleaning gutters

Those in attendance were: Jordan Munns, Ken Danley, the Elders, Lew Olson and friends, Collin Lahue, Tanner Clark, Josh Maughan, Dan Munns, Ryan Munns, James Munns, Joey Snider, Bryan Melick, Ben Arrington, Sam Haught, Scott Farnsworth, Paul Farnsworth, Chris Sorrough, Richard Leon and Jared Justeson (I hope that was everyone).

It was great to get out there with everyone and work. Thanks to all that helped in organizing and serving in this project.

This week our lesson will be taught by Jonathan C. Cox on the last Priesthood Session Conference address given by President Hinckley - Slow To Anger. Here is the link: http://lds.org/conference/talk/display/0,5232,23-1-775-23,00.html

Our spiritual thought for the week comes from the lesson: "Now, my dear brethren, in closing I plead with you to control your tempers, to put a smile upon your faces, which will erase anger; speak out with words of love and peace, appreciation, and respect. If you will do this, your lives will be without regret. Your marriages and family relationships will be preserved. You will be much happier. You will do greater good. You will feel a sense of peace that will be wonderful." President Gordon B. Hinckley

We love you all and look forward to seeing you on Sunday.
