Last Week of June!

That's right, we are only days away from the best holiday of the year...the 4th of July! This week we are excited to hear from the Bishop as he takes our third hour lesson on Sunday. He has a great lesson for us and some new information on how to be more effective missionaries.
Please remember to get your hometeaching done by Monday and let us know if you need any help. The spiritual thought for this week comes from President Henry B. Eyring's first presidency message in the June Ensign: "In our own time we have been warned with counsel on where to find safety from sin and from sorrow. One of the keys to recognizing those warnings is that they are repeated. For instance, more than once in general conferences, you have heard our prophet say that he would quote a preceding prophet and would therefore be a second witness and sometimes even a third."
We look forward to seeing you this Sunday and hope you enjoy your weekend.

Hello Elders

Hope you are enjoying your summer so far.

This Sunday we will have a great lesson from Elder Bednar on how to improve our desire to become more Christ like. His talk titled "Clean Hands and a Pure Heart," is a wonderful reminder of our need to continually improve our lives by drawing closer to the Savior.

The question we will council on is: What small improvements can you make this week to change your desires?

Hopefully, everyone has caught the spirit of our councils and understands the necessity to read and prepare before coming to class. There is much more to gain if these steps are followed. Please take a few minutes to read the lessons each week and here is the link to Elder Bednar's talk: http://lds.org/ldsorg/v/index.jsp?vgnextoid=f318118dd536c010VgnVCM1000004d82620aRCRD&locale=0&sourceId=608826cb31cf5110VgnVCM100000176f620a____&hideNav=1

The spiritual thought comes from the lesson: "Our spiritual purpose is to overcome both sin and the desire to sin, both the taint and the tyranny of sin." Elder David A. Bednar

We love you all and hope you've had a great week!

SUMMER IN FLORIDA

Hello Elders,
We hope you and your families have enjoyed the 1st school-free week of summer. It has lived up to all the hype with the heat, humidity, rain, and afternoon thunderstorms.
In our Quorum on Sunday before our lesson and council, we would like to invite our Brethren to Strengthen Us by sharing any missionary experiences you may have had. We hope all are praying for and acting on missionary opportunities. Not only do they Strengthen Us but also provide work for our awesome Elders. Also, last week we had a great spiritual council and we hope to hear experiences from last week's question, "What can we do this week to build up the kingdom of God?"
Our lesson this week will be taught by Brother Prather. This will be his first lesson with our new format and we are sure it'll be great. The lesson material comes from chapter 12 of the Joseph Smith manual, Proclaim Glad Tidings to All the World, and can be viewed at this link: http://www.lds.org/ldsorg/v/index.jsp?vgnextoid=da135f74db46c010VgnVCM1000004d82620aRCRD&locale=0&sourceId=ad7720596a845110VgnVCM100000176f620a____&hideNav=1&contentLocale=0
Please read it before you come to quorum and don't forget to bring your manual on Sunday.
The question we will council on will be: What missionary work will you do this week and how? Please take the time to consider this question and prepare for our council.
The spiritual thought this week comes from the lesson:"Souls are as precious in the sight of God as they ever were; and the Elders are to persuade and invite all men everywhere to repent, that they may become the heirs of salvation." - Joseph Smith
We love you all and look forward to seeing you on Sunday.

Friday Temple Trip

Hello Elders,

DON'T FORGET OUR TEMPLE TRIP THIS FRIDAY NIGHT! We'll be leaving Big Lots in St. Cloud at 6:00 to make the 7:00 session for anyone who wants to carpool. We hope to see you there.

We'd like to officially announce the winner of the bowling championship, Ken Danley. It was a real nail-biter between him and Tyler Anderson, but Ken prevailed (partly because he brought his own shoes). Anyhow, it was a lot of fun and we can't wait until our next tournament.

This week our lesson will be chapter 11 "The Organization and Destiny of the True and Living Church" from the manual. This is a fantastic lesson on our important roles as members of the church. Here's the link for your reading enjoyment: http://lds.org/ldsorg/v/index.jsp?vgnextoid=88021b08f338c010VgnVCM1000004d82620aRCRD&locale=0&sourceId=546720596a845110VgnVCM100000176f620a____&hideNav=1&contentLocale=0

The question we will council on will be: What can we do this week to build up the kingdom of God? Please take the time to consider this question and prepare for our council.

The spiritual thought for this week comes from the lesson: "
The advancement of the cause of God and the building up of Zion is as much one man’s business as another’s. The only difference is, that one is called to fulfill one duty, and another another duty." -Joseph Smith

Lastly, this is our farewell post to all of our departing elders. Tyler, Justin, Christian and Rudy you will all be missed. Thank you for all your hard work and the strength you brought to our quorum.

We love you all and look forward to seeing you on Sunday!
