Be One

Brethren,


I had the pleasure this past week of attending a leadership training at the Orlando Stake Center. I wanted to share with everyone a few thoughts that were provided at the meeting. Elder Kenneth Johnson of the Seventy was the primary speaker of the meeting. Elder Johnson was a convert to the church and originally hails from the UK. He was introduced to the gospel by his wife. Elder Johnson recited a recent experience the General Authorities had while gaining instruction prior to conference. All the brethren were asked to study John chapter 17 prior to this meeting of instruction. The primary guidance provided by the savior in this chapter is that the apostles should be one. What does it mean to be one? How can we become one as families, as a quorum? How can we be made perfect as one?

I would like each of us to read John Chapter 17 and ponder on some of the items mentioned in this chapter. We will discuss this chapter in quorum in the upcoming weeks.

1. Stake Conference is this upcoming weekend
Saturday October 25th @ 7pm is the adult session
Sunday October 26th @ 10am is conference

2. October 31st is the Trunk or Treat.

Conference Updates

Brethren,


I hope everyone had a chance to listen to conference. Having an opportunity to hear the prophet's voice twice a year provides an opportunity to be strengthened both mentally and spiritually. We will be reviewing some of the talks over the next six months in some of our lessons.

We have also made a few updates to some of the home teaching assignments, with all of our recent quorum changes, some assignments needed to be updated. If you do not have your updated sheet, please see any member of the quorum presidency.

Congratulations to the Prather family for their recent addition. Evan Prather was born on Monday. Mom, baby and the rest of the family are all doing well.
